Check the symptom, not just the temperature
Note whether both sections are warm, whether the freezer is still cold, whether frost is visible and whether fans or the compressor can be heard. These details help narrow the diagnostic path.
A blocked vent, failed fan, defrost problem, sensor issue and sealed-system fault can all present as poor cooling, but require different repairs.
Avoid repeated power cycling
Repeatedly unplugging and restarting a refrigerator can erase useful error information and may add stress to certain components. If food safety is at risk, move perishable food to suitable cold storage and arrange service.
Do not puncture ice, refrigerant tubing or interior panels. Sealed-system work requires appropriate equipment, training and refrigerant handling.
Information to have ready
Photograph the model and serial label, note any displayed error code and describe when the issue began. Mention recent power outages, unusual noise, water leaks or prior repairs when scheduling.
This information is general and is not a substitute for model-specific instructions or professional diagnosis. Stop using an appliance if there is a risk of fire, electrical shock, gas, flooding or injury.
