Drain and spin are connected
Many washers will not enter a full spin if the control detects standing water, an unlocked door or an unbalanced load. That means a no-spin complaint can begin with a drainage or sensing problem.
The useful diagnostic question is not simply whether the drum moves, but where the cycle stops and what the washer detects at that moment.
Safe checks before service
Confirm that the drain hose is not visibly crushed and that the machine has power. Record any error code and avoid repeatedly starting a cycle when the tub is full or the machine is leaking.
Do not tip or disassemble a water-filled washer without the correct drainage and electrical precautions.
What a technician may test
Depending on the design, diagnosis may include the drain path, pump, door or lid lock, pressure system, motor system, suspension and electronic controls. Testing prevents unnecessary replacement of parts based only on symptoms.
